Project Workflow

1. Registration and Protocol

After registering an account with us, fill out a new PCR protocol form or send us your current protocol. 

2. Order Form and Samples

Send us a new order form and leave samples in your lab, an onsite drop box*, or ship them to us for free.

​After sample pickup or receiving, we will validating the sample numbers with your order form, DNA will then be extracted from the mouse samples.

3. PCR and Gel Electrophoresis

PCR amplification will be done according to your protocol, followed by gel electrophoresis. The rest of the DNA will be stored in our freezer for 6 months.

4. Image Analysis and Report

The gel will be scanned using a gel scanner to achieve the highest resolution. Once the results are analyzed, a final report will be sent to your designated email within 72 hours after pickup occurs or when samples are received.

​*Sample collection currently only available to institutions in the Texas Medical Center Area, Rice University, and the University of Houston.

Pricing Structure

Universal Pricing
$5.50 per sample. No matter how many alleles you are trying to detect at the same time, if you can combine it into a single PCR run, it will be $5.50 per sample. If more than one PCR reaction needs to be run, each additional reaction will be an additional $2.50. 

Free Overnight Shipping For Your Samples
For institutions outside of the TMC area, we will provide free overnight shipping* for to get your samples to us as soon as possible.

Free Validation
For every new PCR protocol you setup with us, we will run 16 samples for free for validation. Results will be re-run to your satisfaction.

No Minimum Order
Submit as little as 1 sample, and we will run it for the same price as your other order.

Our standard service guarantees results within 72 hours.

Free Control Lanes
Control samples will be run with each gel free of cost, including a blank/no DNA control, wildtype, and positive control.

*Free shipping is offered for orders greater than $300. For orders under $300, a shipping fee of $30 will be charged for each shipment.

Sample Preparation

Types
Mouse or rat tissue samples such as tail snips ( > 3mm), ear clips ( > 2mm), or toes are all acceptable. Protocols could also be setup for other specimens.

Storage
Please place the samples in either microcentrifuge tubes and label the sample ID clearly.
